At Professional Physical Therapy, we are proud to employ some of the most charitable people dedicated to improving our communities. We want to applaud those individuals who go above and beyond both in their careers and in the communities in which we serve.

What is your favorite Charity and Why?

My favorite charity is St. Jude’s Children Hospital.  Their initiative to have no family have to pay for treatment for their children is amazing to me. They are a bigger charity and could easily take their celebrity endorsements and leave the smaller donors out, but they consistently take time to thank each donor individually and send weekly updates to their donors.   I recently ran a half marathon to raise money for them and the volunteers and people working for St. Jude’s were the most amazing and helpful people. All the money raised goes directly to the children and families that are utilizing St. Jude’s facilities.

How has Professional’s philanthropic culture/initiatives impacted you?

I love that Professional Physical Therapy puts such an emphasis on giving back.  It is one thing to treat patients in a community, but to be involved in the community and make a name for yourself is something truly special.

What is your favorite thing about Professional and its charitable initiatives?

I like that everyone gets involved and that Professional finds fun ways to celebrate and bring awareness to each charitable initiative.  Things like “Fun Fridays” or “Miracle Jeans Day” give us an opportunity to let our patients know what we are/have raised money for.  It also gives the staff a little more incentive to donate.

If you had an unlimited amount of money to spend on charity, what would you do?

I would try to spread the money throughout a lot of different charities supporting different things.  I would like to donate to some of the smaller local charities that don’t often get as much attention as those that are national.

What is your favorite Charity and Why?

My favorite charity is the Lupus Foundation of America (LFA). I have been an active member of the LFA for several years now.  For the past two years, I have led walk teams through the NYC Walk to End Lupus Now, and have succeeded in raising thousands of dollars with the help of my family and friends.  I am also a member of the LFA Walk Committee for NYC which strives to improve the every year. I choose this charity because often when people hear the word Lupus they say, “What’s that one again?”   Lupus doesn’t get the same attention that many other charities receive, and this lack of awareness leads to less funding for research.  Lupus doesn’t have a cure and this disease that affects 1.5 million people deserves a greater effort to give those suffering,  hope for a better future.

How has Professional’s philanthropic culture/initiatives impacted you?

It’s inspiring to see the hard work individuals within Professional Physical Therapy have given to their charities of choice.

What is your favorite thing about Professional and its charitable initiatives?

Watching videos from the charity challenge last year was my favorite because it reminds us of all the good we can do as a team.

If you had an unlimited amount of money to spend on charity, what would you do?

If I had an unlimited amount of money to spend for charity, I would spend it on funding research for all those diseases out there that have no cure.  I would also use it to promote awareness because to me, awareness is the baseboard for all future efforts.

Currently, Professional Physical Therapy is supporting Miracle Jeans Day by donating $1 for every patient visit from August 31st to September 4th, 2015.  On September 9, 2015, Professional staff will be wearing jeans to support Miracle Jeans Day and we encourage all of our patients to do the same!
