Our History

In 1999, Professional Physical Therapy opened its very first clinic in Bayside, Queens. After years of working at a publicly traded Fortune 500 healthcare corporation, our founding partners Robert Panariello, and George Papadopoulos, recognized the need for effective, individualized care, and set out to launch a company that would meet those needs.

Today, Professional’s patient-oriented treatment method has exploded onto the industry scene, and with facilities in Queens, Manhattan, Long Island, Bronx, Brooklyn, Westchester, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire, getting the quality physical therapy you deserve has never been more convenient.

We employ clinical and administrative staff members, and offer Specialty Rehabilitation, Athletic Training, and Fitness Services. At Professional, our revolutionary services provide patients with multi-specialty Physical Therapists who can treat any body part and injury with excellence. Our clinical expertise and exceptional patient experience has made us Practice of the Year nationwide, as well as NY Metro area’s number one choice for Physical Therapy.

who we are.

What can you expect from Professional?

Here at Professional Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy (Professional), we believe in treating our patients, not just their injuries. Our licensed Physical Therapists customize individual recovery plans, using the most state-of-the-art technology and practices to get patients performing better than ever.

We start off with a one-on-one evaluation to address your injury or change in physical function. Then we get to work increasing your strength and flexibility, quickly getting you back to your previous level of activity while preventing further and recurring injuries. As a Physical Therapist owned and operated company, we pride ourselves on our unique ability to customize treatments to meet the needs of each individual patient.

Our staff is just as accomplished and attentive as our clinical philosophy.  Please feel free to browse our Locations section to learn more about our staff in each facility.

With a rapidly growing number of facilities throughout New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire, feeling better has never been more convenient!

Many of Professional’s patients choose to continue to build on the therapeutic exercise program started during their Physical Therapy treatment.  For these individuals, we have our Professional Athletic Performance Center (PAPC), where our Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialists, in conjunction with our Physical Therapists have created our Return-to-Sport Programs (i.e., Bridge and Throwing Analysis Programs).  Our PAPC is a 20,000 square foot facility where our patients enhance their flexibility, strength, power, agility and overall conditioning to excel at their sport in a safe manner.

As experts in the field of rehabilitation, we recognize the high incidence of injuries that occur during sports and recreational activities.  That is why Professional has extended its services to provide Athletic Training Services to local schools and sports organizations.  Our Certified Athletic Trainers (ATs) help educate organizations, and the individuals within, in ways to prevent injuries.  Our ATs are onsite, so they are able to respond to any injuries that do occur, and provide the immediate care and treatment necessary.  This includes ensuring each individual receives the proper follow-up care by a Specialist, such as an Orthopedist.

As part of our commitment to advances in the field of Physical Therapy, and the standard of care we demand from our employees, Professional has launched Professional Seminars, a Continuing Education program for allied health professionals in the field of Sports Medicine.

We are committed to not only educating those currently in the field of Physical Therapy, but also to those who aspire to practice as our colleagues in the future.  Professional offers its Clinical Affiliation Program to undergraduate and graduate students from over sixty academic institutions.

We look forward to providing you with the highest quality professional care that Physical Therapy has to offer.
