I worked with Chris Costello on some rehab for my old baseball throwing shoulder. The facility was great and Chris was a pleasure to work with - knew how to make the work feel easy while making progress and clearly has the experience. Would 100% return to this location and would want to stick with... Chris for any future issues that may arise.read more

I came in after a partial knee replacement and could only bend my knee to 85 degrees and am leaving today with a 132 degree bend and I am feeling great. So much mentally better now than when I started. It was a pleasure working with Professional PT... staff. Your professionalism, concern and dedication made me feel at home in your facility. I would highly recommend Jay and his team!Allison Brushread more

I've been very happy with the consideration and excellent care I've received from Chris Costello and the entire Professional PT team. In a few short weeks, there has been noticeable improvement -- thanks to Chris's physical manipulations and effective exercises. Although I've suspended treatment... as I'm out of the country for two months, I will return upon my return to NYC.read more

I worked with Amarinder in the Chelsea location of Professional PT. She was excellent in diagnosing my problems quickly and target focused therapy accordingly. She is very dedicated and went out of the way to accommodate my timings and ensure I made good progress in my sessions. Highly recommend.

Amarinder was great with personally catered treatment to help my foot get back to full health. Gives clear and helpful instructions / programs that helped me regain strength and return to 100% in only a couple months. Was patient with me even after I re-injured myself (oops) and was always... personable / easy to talk to. 10/10 would recommend. Thanks!read more

Wonderful space and PT org. Location is great - for both commuting and the spacious interior. Even with covid precautions, you get a sense for how friendly and collaborative staff is here. As a loyal patient of Amarinder, I've had the added perspective of receiving therapy from her in more than one... PT company. And with that experience, and from that point of view, I'd highly recommend Professional PT! Thanks for all the time and care :)read more

I went to Professional Physical Therapy to work on my knee that I had injured. The facility is very well run and Susanna, my therapist, is great. She challenged me to push myself, but also knew when the adjust the excerise when necessary. I highly recommend this physical therapy clinic.

I had a broken bone in my foot that cost me a good bit of summer activity, and had to be in a boot for 7 weeks after getting my soft cast off. The whole staff at Professional PT in Chelsea was extremely easy to work with and helped me get my foot and ankle back to full strength. Darima, my PT was... excellent and I am very thankful to her for helping me work through the injury. Definitely would recommend to anyone seeking physical therapy.read more

Great facility and staff was super helpful and caring. Used to go to Chris back for an old injury and had to go back to him for this one. Feeling much better and stronger

Christopher Costello, my PT and the team led by him are excellent, knowledgeable, attentive and patient. The place is very clean, the atmosphere friendly and pleasant. The program Chris has designed and developed for my back and shoulder pains strikes a thoughtful balance between targeted hard... work, rigorous exercises and soothing breaks. And I get regular reminders for a manageable load of daily homework. I feel so much better now than when I began. With growing confidence in their skillful guidance, I’m also more optimistic about further improvements. This has been a very positive, invigorating experience. Thank you, Chris!read more

Chris and Nate took great care with me after my knee replacement! Their goal was my total recovery and I was lucky to find them. Thanks, Professional!
Miles G.
I am in a period of regaining strength and flexibility from a chronic shoulder ailment. Treatment began in June and continues. I have nothing but praise for the care I have received at PPT. From ease of scheduling to on-time meetings with my therapists and their aides, I have been treated with... close attention to my condition but also to me as a person. The two are closely related. Mind and body are in synergy. They influence each other. There is regular re-evaluation of my progress (online and in person) and the staff have worked out a treatment plan for me that changes as my body changes -- for the better. At 74 years of age, I know that my body has certain limitations that wear and tear in general have produced, but I must say I feel a little younger! I am always encouraged to just try a little harder but never pushed beyond my limits. My therapists have interpersonal as well as technical skills and knowledge of the body's functioning. Seriousness of purpose and a sense of humor go together well in this field. All of the factors together have led to improvement for me: more flexibility, stability and strength and confidence.read more

Professional PT’s Amarinder Parmar came essentially required by my surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery for the continuation of my therapy. My experience and results with Amarinder as well as the entire facility and staff have been nothing short of remarkable. She has excellent bedside manner... while staying focused and completely no nonsense regarding my progress and recovery. She is not afraid to push me to the appropriate limits and hold me accountable in receiving my desired results. After several months of in office visits along with full at home programs and technology, she and the staff are starting to feel like an extension of the family.I highly recommend for any PT needs especially post op. Thank you to Amarinder and the Professional PT Chelsea staff.read more

I believe that my PT Susanna, is very knowledgeable about exercises to get relief from the pain. I am also learning exercises to build up stomach and thigh muscles to better support the back. I was sceptical going in, esp. because of my age, but I feel much better. I also realize that to stay... pain free. I need to do the exercises often. Thanks Susanna and Professional PT.read more

This is a very great physical therapy location!! The pt are very personable and connect with patients from day one. They don’t make you wait for service they are professional and pleasant to work with. Unlike a previous Pt clinic this practice is down to earth and hands. They have a dynamic pt... team Zarah, Sean, Nate and Chris! The receptionist is very polite and works with your schedule!! I highly appreciate the fact that they are very very flexible with their patients. They are willing to try new exercise and routines to get you up and going. I’m still a work in process but God Bless this practice they are heaven sent. The doctors haven’t given me a concrete answer as to why I have the pain but they have been able to work with me decreasing and managing the pain as needed! If you are in pain definitely book with the Chelsea locationread more

Great and caring service! A very professional front desk staff, and wonderful physical therapy with Nathan! I will enthusiastically recommend Professional PT to others.
Jenny L.
The team of therapists led by Christopher Costello are kind, professional, patient and will gently push you to recover and heal. One leaves the session feeling limber and good. Muscles that one didn’t know existed or used in a long time will be sore, but once that has passed, the affected area... feels much better. In my case, I have sciatica from an accident years ago, which is sending shooting pains down the right side of the body. Chris and the other therapists ask questions to determine progress and also stretch out the back to balance the exercises. The “homework” to be done between visits is not long to accomplish and can be scaled up or down in difficulty for improvement. My thanks to Chris, Anthony, Yvonne, Declan and Ava for their informative guidance and therapy.read more

In High School, I was unable to determine a career path that I was enthusiastic about, but having been through Physical Therapy for my own injuries, I reluctantly decided to accept an internship with a local clinic. What I discovered was a professional that combined both my fascination with health and fitness, and my desire to help others. Almost immediately I decided this was the career for me. Throughout college and working professionally, I have loved being able to expand my knowledge of treatment, and continue to improve my craft. This year I am taking the next step in my Physical Therapy career, and am currently enrolled in an Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency.

Education

Clinical Interest

Bio

Marissa fell in love with hand therapy roughly 8 years ago. She started out by volunteering at an outpatient clinic on Long Island. Almost immediately she was offered a position as a therapist aide and was there for 3 years. She observed many trauma cases and was fascinated by the recovery process, from the intricate anatomy to the collaboration and trust between patient and therapists. She pursued her clinical rotations in hand therapy and has been in occupational therapy practice since 2020. Marissa also has experience working with geriatric clients both in living facilities and in home care. With her geriatric clients, she spent ample time focusing on postural deformities and osteoarthritis conditions. She believes one of the most important tools to help her clients succeed in therapy is communication and forming a therapist-client relationship. She loves watching the progression of her clients until they ultimately reach their goals. Outside of work, some of Marissa’s favorite things to do are hike, travel, eat different cuisines, and take care of her plants.
