The facility is super clean. All of the employees are kind and knowledgeable. I have been to several places for therapy and by far the best place I’ve ever been. The Certified Hand Therapists are amazing!

I worked with Jane (OT) in the Hartsdale office after my hand surgery. Jane was fantastic! I worked with her for roughly 7 weeks, twice a week. I went in with two very stiff fingers with almost no range of motion and by the time I finished I had almost full range of motion back. We started working... on strength the last few weeks and I’m not back to where I was before the surgery but I feel confident in the tools I was given to continue gaining strength. The facilities were clean and other staff I encountered seemed great as well.I hope I don’t have to go back to OT or PT anytime soon but I would gladly go back to Professional Physical Therapy.read more

Joanna Spivack and her team were great. They made room for me on short notice, were flexible in scheduling and rescheduling appointments to accommodate me, and the therapy program they guided me through gave me back use of my hand following some complicated surgery. I’m now following the home... therapy program Joanna set up for me and expect further improvement. In all, compassionate, competent, and highly recommended.read more

Joanna spends time with each patient even if she has 4 at a time. I have found that the modalities that she is using to help me with my hand pain and mobility have helped a lot since I started only three sessions ago. She’s very good at giving explanations for the exercises she wants done and even... videotaped some exercises I did today so that if or when I do them again, I can refer back to that. I feel very comfortable with the progress and I’m looking forward to seeing where we go from here.read more

As an orthopedic hand surgeon, I depend heavily on hand and physical therapists. My patients do better when they have a great therapist. The therapists at Professional PT have been outstanding. They spend time with my patients, communicate effectively, and have helped my patients achieve excellent... outcomes (which I know would not be as good with an inferior therapist). Thank you especially to the CHTs: Joanna, Janine, Dana, Neser, and Jane, who have provided excellent care for my patients.read more

I was referred to do 4 weeks of occupational therapy here at Professional physical therapy. First thing I noticed was how beautiful this building was and tons of FREE parking ! No worries there. Very clean building as I'm walking up the stairs to the office. Front desk staff seemed very nice except... my last visit when young lady at the front desk pretty much shoved a bill at me before leaving mentally I'm thinking doesn't show my insurance covering at all lol that's another story. Let me get back to how amazing my therapist was Johanna (OT therapist) she really was very detailed in the program and progression of my wrist. I can definitely say from the first day I went to now there's been an extreme improvement on my strength, grip and overall feeling! I totally recommend this therapy location nonetheless!read more

I received my Masters in Occupational Therapy at Columbia University where I developed a passion for the specialty area of Hand Therapy. While spending the first years of my career at two major NYC Hospitals, I was able to gain experience with a vast patient population consisting of many different diagnoses. After five years of licensed practice and over 2,000 hours in direct patient contact in an outpatient hand therapy setting, I earned my advanced certification in hand therapy. I have continued to expand my knowledge through continued coursework and staying current with the latest evidence based practice techniques. I am very adept at custom splinting for both protection and treatment of upper extremity conditions. I began working with Professional Hand Therapy in 6/2018 and have since grown the Hand Therapy Practice in Westchester from the ground up and have spearheaded a clinical mentorship program for novice therapists to learn from their more experienced counterparts.

After completing my Doctorate degree at Ithaca College, I started right away with Professional Physical Therapy. I started as an intern at our Midtown location, and then moved to our Mamaroneck facility where I became a staff Physical Therapist. My hard working, and caring attitude towards my patients showed and in two years I was named Clinical Director of our Hartsdale location. I've treated patients of all ages, from 6 years old to 96 years old! I also enjoy working with weekend warriors, and student athletes. There isn't an impairment that I cannot treat, and every patient will get my absolute best! Not only do patients show improvement after starting with us at Hartsdale, but they enjoy the positive and inviting atmosphere created by all our staff!

Allison became interested in the field of physical therapy after tearing her ACL while competing in gymnastics on her high school team. She underwent surgery and was amazed at how much physical therapy helped her regain strength and mobility, and allowed her to be able to participate in dance and gymnastics once again. She went on to graduate with her Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science and minor in Psychology at Rutgers University in 2003, then graduate from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, School of Health Related Professional with a doctoral degree in Physical Therapy in 2007. Throughout her undergraduate and graduate education, Allison worked as an aide in an outpatient orthopedic physical therapy clinic with the therapists who treated her years before. Allison began her career working in outpatient, sub acute, and acute care settings. After several years, Allison began working in pediatrics and spent 8 years working in one of the largest ventilator dependent pediatric facilities in the country with children who are medically complex. She has extensive experience working with early intervention and preschool children, as well as children in a school setting. Allison has studied the Halliwick method of aquatic therapy and specializes in pediatric aquatic therapy. She spends most Saturday mornings in the pool with children with a variety of acquired and genetic conditions ranging in age from 6 months to 21 years old. After 8 years, Allison decided to return to the outpatient orthopedic setting and brings with her the lessons she has learned in working with children and their families: patience, a teams based approach, collaboration, creativity, flexibility, and positivity. She sees patients as whole people and believes that listening to patients is just as important as the treatments she provides to them, and strives to empower patients to take charge of their recovery and become as independent as possible.

I was born in Guyana, South America. I was a lover of all things. I participated in sports, music, dance, acting, academics and I found that I enjoyed them all. I studied Jazz vocal performance as an associate's degree and went on to finish my BA in Marketing. I decided to pursue PT after my cousin was tragically hit my a car. He was in a coma for over a month, and when he awoke, he needed therapy to relearn every human task. I was so memorized by his recovery and the professionals that helped bring him back to the healthy, happy boy he was. I knew then, that PT was what I needed to do with my life. The rest is history.
