Whether it’s a high-level athlete rehabbing an injury or an older individual hoping to increase their mobility, Melanie excels in providing personalized care to help her patients meet their goals. Growing up as a dancer, Melanie was always interested in how the body worked and moved. It was after a ballet Injury sent her to PT that she found her true passion. She was so moved by the rehab experience and the ability of her therapist to get her back dancing that she went to Ithaca College and pursued physical therapy. Melanie didn’t totally forget about her roots in ballet as she also became a certified barre instructor. Melanie has been practicing PT in Westchester since 2014 and has a passion for working with local student athletes as the physical therapist for Iona University. It is this connection to the community that has led her to partner with Professional PT to open a second office in New Rochelle, on North Avenue. She looks forward to continuing to help patients of all ages get back to their best. She also has a newfound interest in working with pregnant and Postpartum individuals after recently becoming a mom.

I began my path to becoming a Physical Therapist in high school, when I took my first Exercise Science course at the HS for Health
Professions and Human Services. My love of exercise, fitness and the human body’s tendency to adapt shaped my desire to pursue
Health and Exercise Science as a major at Skidmore College. Upon graduation, I took a job as a Personal Trainer at Equinox, helping
athletes and non-athletes, alike, to achieve functional and athletic goals. Soon I realized that my desire to help people extended
beyond the gym. As a result, in 2014, I interviewed for a position in the allied health field, as a Physical Therapy Aide. Working in
physical therapy allowed me the opportunity to work alongside health professionals to help people with orthopedic, cardiopulmonary,
and neurological disorders to improve their functional capabilities. Within 3 years, I was certain I wanted to be a Physical Therapist. I
began taking courses and fulfilling my requirements to apply and eventually attend SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. As a
graduate of 2022, I am proud to say all of my dreams are coming true as I began a new journey with Professional PT.

In high school I was involved in many sports including baseball, basketball, karate and was always an active person. In high school I had a couple major injuries that sidelined me and required months of PT. I always admired my PTs dedication to not only me but all patients and how they were able to make a positive difference in these individuals lives and get them back to the things they love doing. I strive to do the same for all individuals that I work with.

As a young adult I have always been inclined to the world of science and medicine and intrigued by the way our body works and moves. I knew I wanted to create a career that was service oriented where I was able to make a difference in the lives of people. Back then the world of medicine to me meant being a doctor or a dentist, until my sister who was then doing her Bachelors in Audiology and Speech Pathology introduced me to the world of Paramedical Courses. Physical Therapy turned out to capture my interest as it gave me the ability to work with a wide range of population to rehabilitate them and to be an integral part of their journey to recovery. My education in India gave me the opportunity to work in a multispecialty hospital where I was able to experience working with a wide variety of inpatient and outpatient cases ranging from Cardivascular, Neuromuscular, Orthopaedic to Paediatrics. I'm interested in working with a wide range of clinical diagnosis included but not limited to Pre-operative and Post-operative Orthopaedic Physical Therapy. I have taken the Mulligan Manual Therapy Course and I continue to learn, grow and sharpen my clinical knowledge to be able to better help my patients achieve their goals. When I'm not working, I enjoy travelling and painting!
