Bio

Dr. James Bautista grew up in San Francisco, CA and was a competitive swimmer during his youth for 12 years. It was during his adolescent years when he was first exposed to and became interested in physical therapy, and understood the importance of physical activity. During his undergraduate years, he volunteered at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital in the rehabilitation department, assisting PT, OT, and SPT therapists in both acute and outpatient settings. After receiving his BS in Kinesiology from San Francisco State University, Dr. Bautista worked as a physical therapy aide at APEX Physical Therapy in San Carlos, CA, an outpatient PT clinic. After working 3 years as a PT aide at APEX PT, he decided to pursue his passion of becoming a PT. For the next two years, he worked part-time at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital as a rehabilitation aide while attending classes at City College of San Francisco to gain prerequisites to apply to PT school. In January 2020, he was accepted into New York Institute of Technology and graduated in May 2023 with his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. In his leisure time, he enjoys dancing Bachata, cooking, and spending time with his partner and their dog.

Hello my name is Aaron Bukalan, a Doctor of Physical Therapy, graduating from SUNY Downstate in 2025, with a passion for helping people move and feel their best.
