Shoulder injury brought me to StarPro Physical Therapy in Tarrytown, and I highly recommend this place because of the great people who work there.Shara, Anisha, Christian, Matt, Courtney are all marvelous. It’s a very warm, friendly atmosphere and you will be treated kindly.I worked with Shara... and Anisha, and at each session they asked how I felt and what I’ve done lately; they do this to gauge my pain, improvement, and things to work on. They asked about my goals (what I’d like to be doing by the end of physical therapy that I currently cannot do); in my case I have two young sons that I need to lift and play sports with, and I would like to return to doing pushups and upper body exercises. So we worked on that in different ways, and I’m steadily getting stronger. Also noteworthy, when my progress in the beginning was very slow and my pain was not going away, Anisha referred me to an orthopedist who only uses surgery as a last resort, so I was able to get a proper evaluation and X-ray. I received a steroid injection, and took a week of rest. Afterwards, I made better progress with physical therapy and the pain diminished. So I’m able to handle more mobility and strength training.Additionally, working with Shara and Anisha, I came to a realization that my back and shoulders have always been very tight. It has been a learning process and I’ve added an extra goal that when I finish physical therapy, I want to start incorporating a lot of pulling exercises and back and shoulder mobility training as part of my routine.Another realization I had is that I’ve been putting up with a small pain in my shoulder for at least two years (because who really sits down and thinks carefully about small pains until there’s an injury and severe pain?). Putting on my shirt or jacket had been causing discomfort that turned into a more burning pain, but I continued activities because I had strength. It took a significant injury to prevent me from daily activities, which resulted in seeking physical therapy. Due to Shara and Anisha constantly asking questions, I had to study my body and reflect on my daily life. I realized the bigger injury may have actually begun with those smaller pains from lack of flexibility. Again, so much learning. I now put on my shirts without pain, so it is a life changing experience (a bonus for me while still recovering from the main injury). As for the office itself, it is very well lit and bright, the front is all windows so daylight is constant. Scheduling is accommodating, and I have to mention that credit cards are accepted (the previous place I went to made me pay cash copays). There’s typically music playing in the background and each person has different playlists, so you get to hear a variety. The tables and towels are clean. Water and some candy is available if you need it.In summary, this is a wonderful place for therapy (I’ve been to others so I can compare). The energy of the staff is to help you achieve wellness; no one will yell at you if you’re unable to do something. They will cheer you on and find different approaches and you will, eventually, be able to do it all.I highly recommend StarPro Physical Therapy Tarrytown. Anisha, Shara, and the whole staff are the best!read more
