Summer Fitness Fun!

We interviewed Dean Maddalone, Director of the Professional Athletic Performance Center (PAPC), about what’s in store for athletes this summer at the 20,000 square foot professional-grade indoor facility, located in Garden City, NY.

Summer’s right around the corner. What can we expect at the PAPC?

Every summer is a lot of fun at the Professional Athletic Performance Center! This year will be no exception! We’re getting ready for another banner summer at PAPC — when elite athletes will train alongside student-athletes of all ages. All of our athletes come in looking to get stronger, or at least maintain their strength, for the fall. In addition to all of our regular programs, we’ll have more sport-specific programs and extended hours for a.m. and p.m. classes to accommodate athletes who also are working.

Why do athletes choose PAPC’s summer training programs?

Athletes choose to train with us because they see serious results. Our Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialists help take their performance to another level. Many high school and college athletes appreciate our ability to focus their training on their sport, while enjoying one of the best equipped facilities in the Northeast.

What’s your most popular summer program?

Our PRO class is one of the most popular programs in the summer for middle school and high school athletes, because friends usually train together and push each other in this group setting. Open Gym is very popular with college students who are looking for the right place to work on their summer fitness goals. They particularly like our facility, because they can take advantage of our Olympic weightlifting equipment, and speed and agility training.

How does your team of coaches help athletes during the off-season?

Our coaches motivate athletes to achieve the best possible results. Their expertise and passion for athletic excellence impacts everyone who trains with us. They also teach proper form for weight training and running mechanics to be quicker and more explosive. And, we can’t underestimate the importance our training has on injury prevention, which is crucial for every athlete.

What are you looking forward to most this summer at PAPC?

I’m looking forward to working with local middle school and high school athletes who are motivated and committed to becoming stronger and faster, and want to take their game to the next level. It’s going to be a great summer!

Dean Maddalone

Dean Maddalone is the Director of the Professional Athletic Performance Center. He is an NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist and USA Weightlifting Coach as well as a NYS licensed Physical Therapist Assistant. Dean has worked in outpatient sports medicine for more than 20 years, and has coached and rehabilitated many professional, college, and high school athletes.
